Intro – Here is Bill Shade with today’s “Moment from God’s Word”.
Message – Last week we asked the question, How important is the Bible, the Word of God to you?
In His great high priestly prayer in John 17, Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them through thy truth, Thy Word is Truth.” There are two things we can observe in that statement. First, Jesus declared God’s Word, the Bible THE TRUTH. So how valuable is that?
The cynical Pilate had given up on truth when he despairingly remarked, “What is truth?” No, Truth is not easy to find in this world, but Jesus declares that His Word is the Truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
The second thing we see in this passage is the effect the Word can have upon us. Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them through thy truth.” Set them apart – purify them. In a world filled with contamination, how good it is to be purified. But the way that happens is through God’s truth found in God’s Word. How much time have you spent in the Truth today?
