Message

Consider Jesus’ words in Matthew 9:16, 17 (repeated in all of the synoptic Gospels): No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

It could hardly be clearer that Jesus is alerting His followers that God is about to make a paradigm shift in His dealings with man. In this instance, the old garment and the old wine bottle both referred to Israel and as clear as words can be Jesus is telling us that what He is about to do is going to be a completely new thing. The New Testament Church is not an extension of Israel – it is not a patched up garment or an old bottle full of new wine. It is rather, a wholly new entity.

God never changes, but His dealings with man do change. Because that is true, you and I do not make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem each year to worship God as clearly commanded in a former dispensation. A new dispensation has begun in which the requirements and relationships of the former period have been replaced by new ones.

So Dispensationalism aids us in distinguishing the various purposes of God during the changing periods of the biblical record. To learn more contact us today.

Message

“Distinguish the ages, and the Scriptures will harmonize.” Saint Augustine is credited with these words of wisdom, it is unfortunate for the Church that Augustine failed to heed his own advice. Because he failed to make those distinctions, especially between God’s purposes for Israel and for the Church, he framed the Church as a “Theocratic Kingdom” intended to rule over the earth. Having done so, he put the Church on a course that involved her in the political intrigues of the next thousand years and blinded her to her heavenly calling.

Jesus’ words recorded by John in chapter four have unmistakable implications. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him (John 4:21-23).

Jesus’ reference to the hour is certainly not to a literal hour of sixty minutes, but a certain period of time during which God does things in a certain way. Isn’t it obvious, that Jesus is saying that a new time is about to begin in which certain requirements and relationships of the former period will be replaced by new ones There is also a strong implication here of a new Dispensation. If you’d like to learn more about the Dispensational approach to understanding Scripture let me invite you to contact us at Advanced Biblical studies.net. Do it today.

Message

If the Church began with Adam, or Abraham, and Israel was only an early aspect of the Church, then the Church today is all there is of the People of God on earth. Well that is exactly the conclusion Covenant Theology has come to.

Apologist Gary Gilley has written, “The Covenant Theological system has many implications, not the least of which is that it recognizes no discontinuity between Israel and the church. That is, the promises to the nation of Israel, found especially in the Old Testament, are, according to this school of theology, now being fulfilled in spiritual form in the church which is spiritual Israel.”

Now in case you think theology has no real connection to the real world, consider this. The entire movement known as BDS (which stands for Boycott, Divest, and Sanction), and which is rampant on college campuses all across the county came about as a result of this faulty thinking. As a result, large segments of the so-called Christian community have begun to reject present day Israel’s claim to the land and are trying to punish her people for even being there.

Theology has consequences. When you study with us in the Advanced Studies department, you will learn the vast distinctions between Israel and the Church, and you will learn the eternal promises God made to the nation Israel that yet await fulfillment. And you will see clearly that God is doing what He promised in the restoration of Israel to the Land and He will one day bring that people to faith in their Messiah and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let me invite you to consider studying with us today?

Message

We have been discussing Adam, and I want to return to that just one more time – for while it is important that we see Adam’s relation to great truths like the origin of sin, the reality of death as the penalty for sin and Christ as our Kinsman Redeemer, it is also important to recognize where the connection to Adam stops.

Where it stops is the claim that Adam is somehow related to either the Church or Israel. When theology, especially certain forms of reformed theology tries to link Adam to the concept of the Church and claim that the Church began with Adam that connection is simply not there. Redemption and salvation by faith alone in God alone has existed through all ages – but that does not mean that either Israel or the Church existed just because men where saved.

As with the denial of a literal Adam, this linking of Adam to the Church distorts many profound truths including the origin and nature of the Church, the mission of the church, and the destiny of the Church. We have to distinguish things that are related from those which are not. Advanced Biblical Studies helps you to do that. Why not contact us today.

Message

For several weeks now we have been discussing the cohesiveness of Scripture, taking the case of Adam as the example. We have learned that we cannot explain either the existence of sin or the origin of death without a historic literal Adam. Today I want to go a step further. I want to urge that without a literal historic Adam, there is no redemption for the race. Now there’s a bit of radical Fundamentalist dogma for you – but what if I’m right, what if it’s true?

The Old Testament laid down the principles for redemption, and, according to Mosaic law, one could not redeem you unless he was related to you – that’s right, he had to actually have a blood connection to be your redeemer.

We get that clearly portrayed in the little book of Ruth. Boaz would have been helpless to redeem Ruth, had he not been related through Naomi. The Bible calls him a “Kinsman Redeemer.”

But what does that have to do with Adam? Just this – why do you suppose the gospel of Luke takes an entire chapter to trace the lineage of Jesus Christ, all the way back to Adam? He did so in order to prove that Christ is actually related to us and therefore eligible to be our Redeemer.

Funny thing about Adam – he seems to be tied to all the major biblical teachings about sin, about death and about redemption. So if he never really existed, what happens to those grand and glorious truths?

Message

Last time we looked at the principle of the cohesiveness of Scripture, that is, its character of being so interrelated that to deny or diminish one single thing will create havoc with the whole. I took for example the case of Adam. The entire biblical doctrine of sin rests for its validity on the historic reality of Adam’s first transgression. Romans 5:19 reads; by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners.

But that isn’t all. Death, the penalty for sin finds its source back to Adam as well. 1Corinthians 15:21, 22 declares; For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Those who reject a literal Adam, usually also hold to some kind of evolutionary development and to a earth that is almost infinitely old. To do that, they have to postulate the birth and death of millions of creatures before the emergence of the human race.

But that not only denies the Creation story, it denies the declaration of the New Testament that the event of Death came as a result of Adam’s sin. If death came by Adam, then there was no death before Adam, so how do you explain millions of years of death and struggle in evolution’s survival of the fittest.

No, the Bible is a cohesive whole. We accept it all, or we can reject it all, but we cannot be selective in what we wish to believe.

Message

One of the characteristics of Christian doctrine, and one of the evidences of its validity, is its cohesiveness – that is, it all hangs together and is interrelated to all its parts.

So if I allow an allegorical interpretation of Scripture or reassign a meaning to certain words which they did not have, I am not merely tinkering with a small portion of Scripture, or an isolated idea. Like dominos the Scripture stands or falls together.

Let’s talk about a classic example; the story of Creation and of Adam. It is not unusual to find preachers and theologians who tell us that the entire Creation narrative is Allegorical, and that whether one believes in a literal Adam or not does nothing to diminish the story. I would disagree. There are profound theological truths that cannot be sustained apart from a literal historical Adam.

To begin with Scripture lays the beginning of sin at the feet of Adam as our first father. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all sinned. Not only was Adam the first sinner, he is, according to Scripture, the progenitor of a sin nature that has passed down to you and me. Romans 5:19 reads; by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners.

It is impossible to explain the origin or nature of sin without a literal, historical Adam. The next time we are together we’ll will look at another truth just as profound and finally that we can’t even explain the Savior’s role in salvation apart from Adam.

Did you know that 20 current or retired military personnel take their own lives in the act of Suicide every day? That’s over 7,000 men and women every year.

I was reading a testimony in a national religious news magazine and as they talked about an outstanding Christian leader, they spoke of how he had helped several people whose children had committed suicide.

Suicide is a National (no – an International) Epidemic. However, did you know that every suicide, regardless of where it takes place, the age of the person, or any number of other factors – every suicide has one identifiable ingredient that is consistently missed by reviewers and suicide intervention experts.
We have uncovered that ingredient in my latest book, Unmasking Suicide. There is a defense against this tragedy that works. I hope you will get a copy and share it with your friends and children.

You can get a copy today by going to BillShade.org – that’s just BillShade.org – (it’s not case sensitive), and order your copy of this revealing book. Suicide Unmasked! Do it today.

Message

Suicide is a global epidemic! Newsweek just carried the following headline: TEEN SUICIDE IS CONTAGIOUS, AND THE PROBLEM MAY BE WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT.

“A teenager in Colorado Springs last weekend became the latest in a rash of suicides in southern Colorado”. The boy, was a junior at Discovery Canyon High School – his was the area’s sixth recent suicide. Five of the suicides were reported in the past four weeks in Pueblo. During the last 13 months, there have been nine deaths in one district. Finally, TIME magazine’s cover summed it up like this, “The Kids Are Not All Right!” No they are not and neither are the adults. Furthermore, the “experts” who are expected to know, admit they have no answers. But there are answers, if you look in the right place.

I spent years doing high school assembly programs and the one program I did on the subject of suicide was requested over and over again – up to three years in a row. What I learned from the scores of teens that talked to me, I’ve tried to share in my latest book called Suicide Unmasked. It takes the mask off suicide and gets to the root of the problem.

I want to invite you to go to our website: BillShade.org – that’s just BillShade.org – (it’s not case sensitive), and order your copy of this revealing book. Suicide Unmasked! Do it today.

Message

Most people who are spiritually sensitive at all, agree that American needs another Great Awakening like ones we have experienced on several occasions in the past. America was born in the wake of the first Great Awakening, which keep us from falling into the same malaise of debauchery and destruction that France experienced during their revolution.

America weathered the war between the states in the wake of the second Great Awakening, which was reflected in the many stories of unexpected kindness that occurred between even bitter enemies in those days.

I believe America was poised for another Great Awakening in the early 70s and 80s. We had just come out of the debacle of the 60s, the Jesus Movement was underway, and the strongest evangelical voices the country had ever known were sounding from radio and television as well as prominent pulpits though out the county.

But just before real repentance and revival could come, we derailed it with an endless stream of very public scandals within the church and when the Salt looses its savor, it becomes good for nothing but to be trampled under foot – which is pretty much where we find ourselves today.

The one common denominator in every Great Awakening has been that it begins with a return to the authority of Scripture and a passion for prayer and the souls of men. If this generation continues to assign the Scriptures to the ash-heap of irrelevance, the nation has little hope no matter who is leading it. But if we will return to Book and believe and obey it, another Great Awakening could be just around the corner.
