Intro – Here is Bill Shade with today’s “Moment from God’s Word”.
Message
We’ve been talking about the power of the Bible, the Word of God to transform and change lives. I looked at the date for this Podcast and realized that tomorrow is December 7th – Pearl Harbor Day. I can still remember that event, though I was pretty young at the time.
It was Mitsuo Fuchida that lead the attack that morning with the words, Toro, Toro, Toro (attack, attack, attack). In the next hours over 2 thousand servicemen would loose their lives in that brutal attack.
But did you know there is a wonderful sequal to that story that is bigger than the raid itself. One of our airmen that was capture by the Japanese, was a man by the name of Jacob DeShazer. DeShazer suffered horrible treatment and torture in a Japanese prison camp but along the way was given a Bible. In only 3 weeks, Jacob Deshazer became a believer and began to pray for his enemies.
After the war he became a missionary to Japan, and a copy of his testimony was given to Mitsuo Fuchida. Through that testimony and portions of the Bible, Fuchida himself was born again and became a preacher of the gospel. And the two men – once bitter enemies became dearest friends. What other Book produces that kind of fruit?
