Intro – Here is Bill Shade with today’s “Moment from God’s Word”.
Message – The word “vanity” appears over 30 times in the book of Ecclesiastes. In fact it is most often written, vanity of vanities. In the original it is two words, (hebel hăbêl) and the meaning is that which is worthless, unsatisfying, and temporary. Solomon, who wrote Ecclesiastes, pursed the avenues of riches, possessions, philosophy and every conceivable pleasure, only to conclude that it was all vanity; worthless, unsatisfying, and temporary. His conclusion is confirmed by the New Testament in 1 John 2:15 – 17 where we read, Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Want something lasting, satisfying and eternal?
